Hats Off To History

Get to know the West Sussex coast.

Around Fontwell

In the Heart of West Sussex

Set between the South Downs and the sea, Fontwell Park sits right at the heart of West Sussex, within easy reach of Chichester's Roman and cathedral heritage, Goodwood, and the Sussex coast itself. It's a racecourse that's as much a local landmark in its own right as anything nearby - Fontwell Park and its historic house are very much the star attraction of the immediate area.

Racing on the Figure-of-Eight

Fontwell is one of only a handful of racecourses in Britain to run over a genuine figure-of-eight steeplechase course, crossing itself in the middle of the track - a quirky, characterful layout that sets it apart from almost every other jumps course in the country.

It's a compact, intimate track that draws a loyal local following and rewards horses who handle its unique twists.
