Fashion lovers are being encouraged to embrace bold colours, confidence and creativity as Fontwell Park Racecourse prepares to crown its best-dressed racegoers at this year's Ladies Evening, with Style Awards worth more than £1,000 up for grabs.
Taking place on Friday 28 August 2026, the August Bank Holiday fixture is one of West Sussex's most stylish social events, where racegoers are invited to showcase their personal style for the chance to win a coveted first prize of £500 cash, a luxury salon experience from Glorious Spa and a £250 voucher for Sea Horse Millinery.
While fashion is firmly in the spotlight, Ladies Evening also promises a memorable evening of entertainment. Guests can enjoy exciting jump racing before singing along to The Take That Experience, dancing into the evening with V2 Radio's Gary Booker, and watching a spectacular drone show light up the night sky.
This year's Style Awards are supported by Glorious Spa and judged by a panel of fashion and beauty experts, including Stephanie Ridge, owner of Glorious Spa, award-winning milliner Jeanette Battersby-Wilcox of Sea Horse Millinery, and stylist Amber Jackson, founder of Amber Styled and regular fashion contributor on ITV's This Morning.
Amber says race day fashion has evolved dramatically in recent years, with individuality replacing tradition.
"We've entered a new era of race day fashion and Ladies Evening really has its sparkle back. Gone are the days of the same dress, nude heels and copy-and-paste fascinators. Going racing today is all about showcasing your personality, creativity and confidence."
She encourages racegoers to make sustainable fashion choices, reminding people that looking stylish doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag.
"Set yourself a budget - you don't have to spend a fortune to stand out. Pre-loved and rental fashion are fantastic options that are both affordable and sustainable, while giving you access to brands you might not otherwise wear for a special occasion."
When it comes to this season's trends, Amber predicts rich jewel tones, bold florals, animal prints and playful polka dots will all make an appearance, while monochrome looks and warm neutral palettes remain effortlessly elegant.
She also has one important piece of advice for anyone hoping to impress the judges.
"Aim for the sweet spot between overdressed and underdressed. Your outfit should feel elevated but still comfortable enough to enjoy the evening. Above all, don't let the outfit wear you. If you're constantly adjusting it or feeling uncomfortable, it's probably not the right choice."
So, what will the judges be looking for?
"It's all about personality," Amber explains. "We're looking for people who have their own sense of style rather than something copied straight off a mannequin. Confidence is just as important as the outfit itself. We want to see occasion-appropriate glamour, thoughtful accessories and people enjoying themselves. The best-dressed person is always someone who feels good in what they're wearing."
Whether you're entering the Style Awards or simply dressing up for a glamorous evening out with friends, Ladies Evening at Fontwell Park Racecourse is the perfect way to celebrate the August Bank Holiday in style.
