25 April 2018

On April 20 the Fontwell Jump Season came to an end, and what a fantastic end to the season it was!

Formidable duo, Neil Mulholland and Noel Fehily were crowned Fontwell Top Trainer and Top Jockey! The pair began the 2017/18 Season on excellent form – and it certainly continued through until the end, with Noel passing the Winning Post on Dandolo Du Gite on 6 April!

Looking at the bigger picture, the Jump Season Finale will be held at Sandown this Saturday 28 April. There, we’ll find out who will be crowned Champion Jockey, Conditional Jockey, Owner and Trainer of the Season.

With the Jump Season beginning again in May, we’ll be hosting our Season Opener on the 9th with a spot of Spring Evening Racing – and we’re incredibly excited to get started! Here at Fontwell, we’re exceptionally lucky to see a number of top trainers visit us, meaning we are part of some serious success stories.

Through the season, we’ve seen a number of previous Fontwell winners and placers taking part in some of the biggest racing festivals of the year including Cheltenham, The Grand National and the Scottish Grand National. It’s been an impressive year already – Paul Nicholl’s, Black Corton is really standing out… and not just at Fontwell! The runner took part in Cheltenham Festival and Ascot earlier this year. We’re certain he’s in for a fantastic career. Lil Rockerfeller, and Old Guard constantly hold our attention! The pair are often entered into the same races, including the Ryanair Stayers Hurdle over the Grand National earlier this month.

All of us here certainly felt privileged to watch the rise of Cue Card, who has retired just this month after an incredible career – which all started with his Fontwell debut back in 2010. Will you be cheering from the stands when we discover the next Great in racing?
